<h1 class="ql-align-center"><strong style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">Operation Dost</strong></h1><p class="ql-align-center"><br></p><h3><strong>Context&nbsp;</strong></h3><ul><li class="ql-indent-1">India has recently launched <strong>'Operation Dost' to extend assistance to Turkey and Syria,</strong> the nations hit by an intense <strong>7.9-magnitude earthquake.</strong></li></ul><h3><br></h3><h3><strong>About&nbsp;</strong></h3><ul><li class="ql-indent-1">The Indian Government has sent tons of relief material to both <strong>Syria and Turkey </strong>in collaboration with the Indian Army as part of Operation.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Under this, India sent to Turkey relief materials, a mobile hospital, and specialized search and rescue teams consisting of NDRF personnel.&nbsp;</li><li class="ql-indent-1">It also sent 6 tonnes of relief materials, including life-saving medicines and medical items.</li><li class="ql-indent-1"><strong>Syria</strong> - India has sent emergency medicines and equipment including portable ECG machines, patient monitors, and other essential medical items to Syria.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Earlier, the NDRF was sent to two similar international operations – the 2011 Japan triple disaster (earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdown) and the 2015 Nepal earthquake.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p><h3><strong>National Disaster Response Force (NDRF):</strong></h3><ul><li class="ql-indent-1">It is India's specialized force for responding to <strong>natural disasters and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense (CBRN) emergencies.</strong></li><li class="ql-indent-1">The force was constituted under the <strong>Disaster Management Act of 2005.</strong></li><li class="ql-indent-1">NDRF is a force of 12 battalions, organized on paramilitary lines, and manned by persons on deputation from the paramilitary forces of India.</li></ul><p><br></p><h1 class="ql-align-center"><strong>PRELIMS NOTES:</strong><a href="https://sunyaias.in/notes/prelims-2023" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 102, 204);"><strong>CLICK HERE</strong></a></h1><p class="ql-align-center"><br></p>
